Is there an order to skills progression? Yes!

How to progress correctly with all our content. where to start and how to build correct fundamentals before progressing

There are a lot of skills you can learn and practice - here on RIDEBOX and in general, what's the correct order to approach them? Let's talk about it.

As instructors, we often see riders that really want to learn a new skill but are lacking some prerequisite skills for that progression. This mostly happens with jumps and drops, but also with other advanced skills.

Some skills are built on the foundations of other, more fundamental skills - while some can be practiced independently.

In this table, we have ordered the fundamentals skills which you should master first - and then a few other "layers" of skills you can progress into.

A couple of important points:

  1. Bike setup isn't a skill - but you should start with it anyway! A bike that's set up incorrectly can be uncomfortable and while skills are more important than the bike, you just want whatever bike you have to be in its best shape so it helps you instead of the opposite.

  2. On RIDEBOX, we have a few exercises for individual skills which you can practice and send us for video feedback. You might be tempted to rush into the advanced skills without being aware that you actually have some fundamental errors. By doing that you can get frustrated with not succeeding as well as taking a higher risk of crashing. PLEASE go over the steps, take your time to make sure you got it right, and send us videos for feedback - doing this will ensure a faster, safer, and more effective progression!

We might update this table from time to time, and of course, we will notify you about it! If you have any questions, let us know.
